Dr Arvind Chaturvedi Chair Emeritus Radiology and Interventional Oncology Member Governing Council Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center, New Delhi A graduate and Post graduate from the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Dr Arvind Chaturvedi began his career in the Army as a physician. A pioneer in interventional radiology in India, Dr Chaturvedi is currently a member of the Governing Council and Chair Emeritus Radiology and Interventional Oncology at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre at New Delhi. He has been with the Institute since its inception in 1996 and has been a key partner in making the Institute the world class organization it is today. A strategist and a visionary he served as the Medical Director of the institute from 2006 to 2010. He moderated the Tumor board discussions at this institute for many years as its chairman. Dr Chaturvedi has been appointed as the national Subspecialty head for Oncologic Imaging by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association. He has authored and edited “Imaging protocols and Reporting guidelines” by leading a team of national experts. His expertise In treating liver cancers with ablative therapies is recognized internationally. He currently serves on the board of Directors of Asian Society of Tumour Ablation and is on the International advisory board of Global Focus on Cancer, New York. His landmark presentations during RSNA 2004 and 2006 on mediastinal biopsies using an innovative suprasternal approach have been some of the highlights of his career. His path breaking original research presentations on intra parenchymal hydrodissection to optimize ablative therapy in the liver cancers delivered during European Congress of Radiology 2016, Onco Imaging & Intervention conference at MDACC (Houston) in 2018, ACTA 2021 at Tokyo and ACTA 2022 at Seoul, South Korea has drawn international attention. A British Council Fellow from Bristol University, England, Dr Chaturvedi was appointed an international expert by IAEA, Vienna in the field of oncological imaging. He has been conferred with “Distinguished Service Award” by IRIA (Delhi) and ”Lifetime Achievement Award” by Oncology Forum. He is a recipient of Clinical Excellence Award (2025) by the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. He has been a visiting professor to the University of Rochester, New York, USA and is a life member of the Radiological Society of North America. He was awarded “The Medal of Honour” and “Fellow of the Asian Society of Tumor Ablation” at Taiwan in 2025. He Is the recipient of Roengen Oration and Gold medal, has authored over 80 scientific papers, 6 book chapters, and has delivered over 200 guest lectures and orations at meetings in India and abroad. He has been a faculty in a number of scientific meetings in India and abroad. He has lectured extensively all over the world including USA, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Japan, Croatia, Slovenia, Nepal, Pakistan, UK, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Indonesia and China. He is married to a doctor and they have two children who are settled in the United States.
